, a very, very talented photographer — an artist here on , and a friend — is now considering leaving the community, because her posted work has been stolen on multiple occasions:

...and here is some VALUABLE information she provides us on copyright protecting our work:
<da:thumb id="478598309"/> <da:thumb id="479017398"/> <da:thumb id="479995415"/> <da:thumb id="480474100"/> <da:thumb id="480679093"/> <da:thumb id="480809834"/> <da:thumb id="480972440"/>
When copyright law is different from country to country, and legal action may or may not be able to prosecute the trolls that steal an artist's careful work, how can we protect ourselves and each other, here in this community that is meant to nurture art and artists? The watermark, while it prevents a photo from being stolen, also ruins the effect of the art when viewed here on . Uploading a smaller-sized pic, again, may discourage some art thieves, but makes viewing the work less of an immersive experience.
Here is 's policy on copyright infringement.
I have a couple of ideas, which I'll forward to the admins here at — if any of you have ideas to contribute, can you suggest them? I love you all, friends — there is so much here to admire, in both the art and the artists on — I would truly hate to lose any of you, and would hate to see the community made poorer by the loss of talent.
IDEAS:
1) Art can only be searched from outside in thumbnail size — one must create an account and log in to view art in full size. Might make it easier to track potential art thieves, and might discourage some of them.
2) Watermarks show up on all art searched from outside — only disappear when one creates an account and logs in.
3) One can only utilize the download function after reading and agreeing to a disclaimer threatening serious legal action if copyright is not respected.

So, when I asked for a community forum on how can better protect its artists, This is the response I got:

Thank you for contacting deviantART customer service. My apologies for the extended delay caused by a large volume of incoming tickets.
Unfortunately while the ideas listed in the journal are clever, nothing can deter a determined individual from infringing; it is an inescapable hazard of publishing your work and an acute hazard when posting anything anywhere on the Internet.

...Basically, I got a big shrug. Utterly pathetic. Folks, take the advice of above, and take steps to protect your own work!

New Beginnings
Back in the States, after a grueling move... for a long time, I wasn't sure what was going to become of me. Things developed very quickly, toward the end of my time in Canada, with Brent deciding to keep me with him for supervision, for health care, and to work on mutual debts — so now I am in Indianapolis. While I would not have chosen the Midwest, the house is AMAZING, backing onto our own private woods. Every eve, I listen to the cicada and frog chorus, and watch the fireflies and bats darting through the twilight... every day, the trees are full of birds. I put in a small bee/butterfly/bird garden in the front, which brings me a qui
Fragile
So… apparently I am still more fragile than I might have hoped, this many years into the mental health odyssey. I don't deal well with bad news, especially as it pertains to my terrifying, obscure future. *Sigh.* I spent Friday night/Saturday morning — 12 hours — in the hospital.
I didn't lie; I told the truth about the likely source of my affliction, which saves everyone time and annoyance. (I've worked in medicine as a vet, so I have a personal appreciation of this.) I'd been stupid and was suffering for it — masticatory muscle dystonia, which is the incredibly uncomfortable clenching and twisting of the jaw muscles

Spring Renewal
Egads. Almost a year since I bugged out… initially to work on my Etsy business, then depression and physical illness swept me under a suffocating carpet of not-being-here, then escapism and random distractions, online friends and online drama (which I cannot deal with, any longer… I just don't have the emotional wherewithal), then what I unhappily refer to as The Nothing — feel nothing, do nothing, like nothing, dream nothing, be nothing — ate the remainder of 2017. Blah.
Then — miracle — my darling, beloved BFF, Jonesymin (https://www.deviantart.com/jonesymin), discovered D&D. My decades-neglected old flame, my passion, my
